Bus Transfers To and From Munich Airport

Nearly 100,000 passengers arrive and depart from Bavaria's premier airport on a daily basis, making Munich the second busiest airport in Germany.

Reaching the airport by bus is convenient as the bus stops at the P53 parking area just outside the terminals.

Munich buses serve a large number of districts of the city and surrounding area. The airport bus station is opposite the Munich Airport Center (MAC), close to Terminals 1 and 2.

Other bus stops are located at the vacationers parking lot P41, at the Visitors Park, at Terminal 1 by Module A/B and at Terminal 2. The airport shuttle bus stop is located right in front of Terminal 1 by Module A (gates 00 and 30) and by Area Z (Central Area/Zentralbereich), and addition bus stops can be found in front of Terminal 2.

The shuttle bus stops directly in front of the North, East and West entrances of the airport and there is an additional stop at the ICM Congress Center, making the journey fast and convenient for visitors to international trade fairs and exhibitions.

Direct bus services also serve the towns of Freising, where the nearest mainline train station is located and Erding. Other bus services run to Bavarian cities like Augsburg, Landshut, Ingolstadt and Regensburg.

The Lufthansa shuttle services and regular Munich Airport buses travel to Munich's main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and as well as going to the Munich Trade Fair Centre. Bus lines MVV 507 and MVV 512 run to the city's residential district Schwaig.

There is a bus at least every twenty minutes throughout the day for destinations within the city. Passengers have just enough time to sample a cup of coffee and a slice of cake from one of the many cafes and bistros in the terminal buildings. Bavarians bakeries sell the most wonderful cakes and gateaux, making a short wait for the bus quite a culinary adventure.

Buses from the airport to central Munich run every 20 minutes. They start at 5.10 am and run until 7.50 pm in the evening. The buses run between the airport terminals and the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) in central Munich. A single journey for an adult passenger costs Euro 10.50, while a return ticket costs Euro 16.00. Children between the ages of 6 to 14 are charged Euro 5.50 for a single journey. The trip into central Munich takes around 40 minutes, while buses to Munich North take just 25 minutes to arrive.

Buses to the Trade Fair Centre run every 30 minutes throughout the day and a single journey costs Euro 7.50 for an adult ticket. Reaching the Trade Fair Centre takes ca. 45 minutes. Bus tickets must be purchased from the bus driver, if no ticket machine is available at the bus stops.

Buses to Salzburg and the Tyrol mountain range, where the main the ski resorts are located, are provided by various shuttle services. Passengers without reservations for onward travel should ask at the information desk in the Central Area (Zentralbereich) or in the Arrivals areas, what their best onward travel options are.

Munich buses also serve destinations like Ingolstadt and Regensburg, departing for Ingolstadt every 90 minutes throughout the day. The bus journey takes just over one hour and costs Euro 16.50 for a single and Euro 27.00 for a return adult ticket. Families can enjoy discounts on their tickets. Buses to Regensburg cost Euro 29.00 for a single journey but this includes a pick up service from either home or hotel in Munich.
